Forbes Ranks Youngstown 4th-Best City to Raise a Family

When you think of Youngstown, the first thing that comes to mind probably isn't that it's family-friendly. However, according to an April ranking by Forbes, that viewpoint may be in need of an update. Forbes examined a number of criteria from each of the 100 largest Metropolitan Statistical Areas from across the United States in order to determine which were the best places to raise a family. Their conclusion? Youngstown, Ohio finished 4th, thanks to low cost of living, top-rated housing affordability, and good school options in the area.

Signs Indicate Continued Gains in Home Sales

With summer drawing to a close, many fear a significant slow-down in the rate of home sales. However, according to new data from the National Association of Realtors, existing-home sales should remain strong through the end of the season! For the sixth time in seven months, sales contracts continued to grow, increasing slightly in July.

July Housing Starts Rise to Highest Level Since 2007

Across the country, the supply of houses available to prospective buyers has remained persistently low, causing steady increases in housing prices. While this has been beneficial in the short term, rising prices will eventually trigger a slowdown in home sales if left unchecked. However, a new report from the National Association of Home Builders indicates that relief may finally be in sight for the issue of low supply. According to data from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Commerce Department, nationwide housing starts in July reached levels not seen since October of 2007!
