Have you heard about the new Oktoberfest coming to the streets of Downtown Youngstown? Keep reading to learn more about the inaugural Youngstown Oktoberfest, happening September 28-30.

For those who aren't aware, the Youngstown Oktoberfest is being organized by local restaurant guru Christian Rinehart as a way to celebrate the opening of his new German beer hall downtown. Of course, it also coincides with the 185th Munich Oktoberfest which runs through October 7.

The Youngstown Oktoberfest will be a 3-day street festival happening on North Phelps Street from September 28-30. Gates will open at 5 p.m. on Friday and the party will kick-off with the Official Keg Tapping by Festmeisters Helga & Wolfgang Wengler at 5:45 p.m. Throughout the three days of merriment, there will be a huge amount of entertainment to enjoy, including several renowned polka and German ethnic bands, American bands, authentic German food, German folk dancers, delicious German beer and wine, fun games & contests, folk vendors, demonstrations, and exhibitions. What kind of contests will there be at an Oktoberfest you ask? How about a Bratwurst Toss, Pretzel Toss, Yodeling Contest, and Best Beer Belly Contest to name a few!

The party lasts until 11 p.m. on Friday before reopening at noon on Saturday. Saturday again runs through 11 p.m., while Sunday runs from 12 – 7 p.m. Admission is just $5 for adults, but you can also buy a pass for all three days for $10! Plus, kids 12 and under are free! You can read more about the event, see the full schedule of events, and ask questions by heading over to its Facebook page.

In addition to having fun, this event is also being hosted to benefit the child, adult and family programs of the Autism Society of Mahoning Valley.
