Celebrating 50 Years of Klacik Real Estate

Wondering who else is celebrating their 50th anniversary this year? The year of 1969 boasted some of the greatest events in our nation.

January 1st saw the Ohio State Buckeyes win the Rose Bowl to solidify their national college football championship of the 1968 season.

March 20th is the anniversary of the marriage of John Lennon to Yoko Ono in Gibraltar. The couple would then head to Amsterdam where they would begin a "Bed-In" for peace. 

April 8th was a significant date in the world of baseball. The Montreal Expos debuted as the first out of state MLB team. In 2004 the team would play their last season in Montreal. The following year would see the franchise moved to Washington D.C. where the team became the Nationals. Currently, the Washington Nationals are playing in the World Series against the Houston Astros.

The Cuyahoga River caught fire on June 22, 1969 and the reaction helped usher in the modern American evironmental movement. Through changes in local laws and clean-up efforts the river was named "River of the Year" by American Rivers, a Washington D.C. based conservation group.

On July 21, 1969 the Apollo 11 crew of astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin set foot on the moon. Armstrong descended to the surface first with Aldrin following 19 minutes later. They were able to collect 47.5 pounds of lunar material to bring back to the Earth. The site of the landing was named Tranquility Base before the two lifted off the surface to rejoin the Columbia, which included the command module pilot Michael Collins, in orbit. 

In August 1969, the Woodstock Music & Art Fair took place at a 600 acre dairy farm in Bethel, NY. 32 acts, including Jefferson Airplane, the Who, Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin would play over the course of the four day festival. Woodstock is known as one of the greatest music happenings of all time. It marked a pivotal event in the vast history of music. 

On October 29th the first message was sent through ARPANET, the forerunner of the modern day internet.

November 10th saw the premier of Sesame Street, the beloved children's show seen by millions through out the years.
